Hi!

For all readers of this blog, I am more than honored to say that I am RedEye’s intern for the 2013 Spring Semester. When I first received a list of internship sites catering to my interest from TWC, I Googled RedEye Post and other giant news agencies (e.g. CNN and Voice of America) and was immediately fascinated by the unique small studio located at the historic old town Alexandria in DC because I believe I can get a lot of hand-on training there. So, I was really excited when I got an interview opportunity with Laura on Skype. Her ideas of self-sufficient and try-and-make-mistakes learning further make me feel, yes, this is the environment I want to do my internship!

Since I was an English major, everything about production is totally new to me. The patch bay and camera and edit systems, wow, they were real things right in front of me! I felt this equipment was really fascinating and worth a great exploration. Immediately, I became like a toddler who bombarded Valeria and Olivia with a lot of simple and kinda stupid questions. The two ladies were so patient in answering all my questions, which I really appreciated a lot. As for the boss, Laura, she and her husband Chris were one of the most open-minded and caring parents I’ve ever met in my life. They had hosted international students from basically all over the world, and were open to every topic on table when we went out for lunch with Valeria and Olivia on my first work day. I think Asian kids like me will be amazed by their openness.

Anyway, doing an internship at RedEye Post is a lot of fun and I literally look forward to every single work day’s coming, so I can learn more from these professional and lovely people.
