RedEye is excited to announce the successful presentation of the National Park Trust Bruce F. Vento Public Service Award for 2022. For 16 years, RedEye has worked with National Park Trust to commemorate upstanding public servants for their efforts to protect the environment. This year’s event was live and in person, unlike the last 2 years, and was hosted at a reception in Washington, D.C. The Bruce F. Vento Award was given to Michigan Congressman Fred Upton because of his environmentally-friendly policymaking. Although members of the RedEye team reside in different states across the country, they were still able to work together to assist Park Trust in honoring Congressman Upton. Watch the 2022 Bruce F. Vento award video here
Why Congressman Upton?
Congressman Upton has been serving the public since 1987, originally representing the 4th District of Southwest Michigan and then the 6th District from 1993 until the present. He has demonstrated time and time again that he is interested in protecting this country’s environment by advocating for policies like the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Great American Outdoors Act. Upton is an extremely active public servant, as he is a member of 3 subcommittees: Energy, Health, and Consumer Protection and Commerce. Apart from this, he also serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and was the chair from 2010-2016. After all of the work Congressman Upton has put in on a governmental level, the Bruce F. Vento Award is well-deserved
Challenges and Obstacles
Putting together this presentation came with its challenges, of course. When those involved with production are separated by distance, it makes communication more imperative than ever. Working together over video conference, phone call, email, and text message presents its own unique set of struggles. RedEye has proven its ability to overcome these challenges and establish strong lines of communication throughout the process of working with National Park Trust. The product shows this ability through its success.
For the Future
RedEye is pleased to share that it will be producing next year’s Bruce F. Vento Public Service Award after 16 successful years working with National Park Trust.
A Bit About Park Trust
National Park Trust strives to preserve parks by acquiring private-owned land in and around the national parks’ boundaries. They have been preserving national parks since 1983 and have now acquired 51 sites. The second part of their mission is to create park stewards for the future, which they achieve through their Buddy Bison program and Kids to Parks Day. The Buddy Bison program allows kids to experience Park Trust parks and educates them about the importance of preserving the beautiful nature so they can make the right decisions when they’re adults.
