Time flies, winter has gone and spring has arrived with the most beautiful tree colors: The cherry blossom. Today the RedEye team took a moment to go to the National Mall at Washington, DC to admire this annual spectacular gift from nature.
The girls and I arrived at the Tidal Basin and surprisingly, or maybe not, was almost impossible to find parking. Finally, we parked, after 20 minuets driving around the area (never said we parked in a legal place Lol) and we made it! Lucky us we didn’t got a ticket. We walked around the Tidal Basin where we took really nice pictures with the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. The day was absolutely beautiful, it was warm and sunny, the environment was peaceful and calm and people, just like us, were in the tourist mode on taking pictures with every single tree, we even saw a couple dressed for a wedding having a photo shoot, and a beautiful blue macaw.
The cherry blossom trees were given by Japan as a gift to the United States in 1912 to celebrate the nations’ then-growing friendship, becoming now a fascinating tourist attraction and the subject of the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival. This annual spectacle only lasts a short time so if you haven’t gone yet, you must walk around this place. The view is absolutely gorgeous, you can’t miss it! (and take metro!)
