Pandemic parties

2020 definitely has been the year full of surprises. One of the biggest problems in the world right now is the Coronavirus pandemic but that hasn’t stopped these young celebrities from “living their best life.” In fact, there have been several parties held by some of the biggest influencers since the beginning of the pandemic all the way to just recently. The first party that grabbed internet attention was on July 21st and was hosted by the Hype House. The Hype House is where some of the most popular TikTok creators live and the party was for one if its members, Larray. The party was held in celebration of his 22nd birthday. The party had 67 people attend since it was invite only but, that didn’t stop the hundreds of fans that were outside of the Los Angles mansion. The second party to happen took place on July 11thand was hosted by famous YouTuber Jake Paul. The party took place at his Calabasas mansion where over a hundred people attended. The most recent party to take place happened was on August 14th and was hosted by famous TikToker Bryce Hall in celebration of his 21st birthday. The party took place in Hollywood Hills where again over a hundred people were in attendance. Although these are all three different parties, they do have similarities which are no social distancing, no mask, and no control.

Effects on their audience

Social media influencers are some of the most popular people at the moment. These Influencers are on various media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok just to name a few. Many children and teenagers follow these influencers and stay up to date on what’s happening in their daily lives. You may not know who Addison Rae is but I bet your 12 year old sibling does. Each of these Influencers have at least a million followers or subscribers. This means that they also hold a lot of power and influence over everyone who watches them.  In this pandemic it is been stressed that everyone has to work together to stay safe. This includes wearing a mask and social distancing. The message that is being portrayed on social media by the party going influencers may be telling their audience otherwise.

If you were in the position as these influencers what would you do?

Since the Coronavirus pandemic started earlier this year in March there have been sereval opinions on the subject. Some people may say it’s real and others may believe it’s not. Some believe that you have the right to choose to wear a mask whereas others believe it’s mandatory for slowing the spread. What you choose to believe is completely up to you but its important to think how your actions can impact others without you even realizing. When these influencers were throwing their parties, I’m sure they were not thinking about how their fans and others would react. Instead they were thinking about having a good time with their friends. As a young adult myself I completely understand the urge to want to hang out with people again, but there’s a bigger picture to look at right now. There have been some repercussions in California since these parties seem to keep happening. There have been multiple disputes over social media whether or not it is fair to punish certain party-goers. The answer to the question, “If you were in the position as these influencers what would you do?” varies from person to person. Just as the views on the pandemic vary.
