RedEye Post’s Survival Guide: How to Edit Content Shot on IPhone
Our previous Survival Guide Series featured everything you need to know when Shooting with your iPhone therefore we are following up with everything you need to know about how to easily edit this footage you’ve shot.
Whether your content is being used for a social media campaign or documentary, editing your footage is a vital step to ensure your project is crisp, clean and ready for you to share! Here at RedEye we have compiled a short list of easy editing applications you can access on your iPhone, iPad or laptop, that you can use to piece together a professional quality video from your finger tips!
The obvious, most popular form to video edit is through Avid, FCP X or Adobe’s Premiere Pro. But there are so many other simpler forms to edit your content shot on your hand held device. Here’s a list of our favorite’s:
- Cameo for IOS- is a fun, easy and powerful video editor, which was made by Vimeo. This app. has a dual function to it; you can shoot short video clips and then switch over to the video editor function to edit them. You can also upload content from your camera roll to edit or combine what you shot on the app with what is in your camera and edit, trim, and splice that content altogether from your fingertip. Additionally you can then add professional sheen with high quality video filters, themes, and a soundtrack.
- iMovie for IOS- iMovie is one of the best apps available for those who have an iPhone or other apple devices. It’s simple, easy and turns your footage into a great quality movie, offering movie themes, titles, transitions, and sound effects, plus much more. Through editing within this application, it helps to turn various videos including HD into professional content. Additionally if you shoot video within the application it can provide even better quality. Everything can be done through a swipe, click, and a tap!
- FilmoraGo for IOS- for iOS is simple, yet produces content that looks like it costs hundreds of dollars to create! It offers similar features as the 2 previous i.e. themes, designs, basic video editing functions like trim, transitions, filters, personalized soundtrack etc. But one additional feature is that it can automate your video, where you select what you want to use and it can edit it for you!
- LumaFusion for IOS- is great for taking your video and editing to the next level! This features all the bells and whistles of the other video editing apps listed such as all your basic design and editing resources, but also includes multi-track editing with real-time preview, animation, effects & transitions, and a strong titler! It’s just almost mirror the results you’d get from Premiere Pro. But this can all be done using your finger!
- Cinefy- Is a different video editing application. It off very basic editing tools but offers an easy and intuitive interface which lets you choose from more than 100 special effects and animations to add to your video. You can even download different effect packs that include various titles, overlay effects and sounds or you are able to connect to iTunes to find what fits your vibe!
