This is my final week at RedEye Post, and boy, have I learned and experienced a lot while working with such a talented group of women. For an end-of-the-summer project, I decided to document some on-the-job experiences and other experiences of leisure as I had time to explore Old Town. I compiled said experiences in a two minute clip that can be viewed at this link.

While at RedEye Post for the past two months:

  • Completed more than 10 cutting room floor segments for Black Entertainment Television’s “Lift Every Voice”. You can view one of them online at this link. In the link provided, Fonzworth Bentley, the host, sat down with Arsenio Hall and discussed a new form of spinach he’d tried… and surprisingly liked!
  • Worked with a client to complete a design for her mailer and CD cover she plans to use for marketing purposes.
  • Posted four blogs/vlogs on the RedEye Post Intern Blog.
  • Published RedEye Post’s quarterly newsletter.
  • Designed a marketing strategy for an auction item that RedEye Post will participate in this coming Fall.

With Laura, Olivia, and Valeria’s help, I have learned a lot of new shortcuts and techniques using Adobe software that I will utilize in my journalism classes at UNC-Chapel Hill and future career. Learning how to plan a shot on a camera as I shoot, pre-writing a script with audio and visual cues, and recognizing the right audio channels on a camera have been valuable pieces of information imparted onto me as I’ve interned here. Apart from said technical advice, they’ve each advised me on certain issues to also help me get in touch with myself and my future career goals. As someone who used to get nervous before starting major projects alone, these women helped me tap into my inner confidence to realize that mistakes are inevitable the first go-round but not the end of the world. It’s about the finish. And I think I finished strong here at RedEye Post this summer.
